This BIOS contains a flash ROM chip that can be updated under certain conditions, but is otherwise static. - When I originally moved into my house about 4 years ago, I couldreliably connect with my dialup line at v.90 speeds (don't recall nowexactly how fast, but probably at least 48K). Then my wife called into verizon about a problem we were having with Call Waiting. Whenthis was resolved, the connect speed dropped to 28.8K max. (Geez, thanks for the help, Verizon.) And of course, Verizon has no interestin restoring my original connect speeds. Now, three years later, Verizon in NJ is finally advertising DSL formy phone number, and is advertising a 30-day free trial. I figure Iwin either way, by either keeping DSL for about $30/mo., or droppingthe service after a month and (hopefully) going to 56K dialup. But isthis a correct assumption? Will fixing the line for DSL also make theline compatible with v.90 speeds? Thanks for the info.

One form of image distortion on a monitor--good monitors have controls to deal with this problem. Basically, the top and bottom of the screen are wider than the middle (convex) or vice versa (concave). When corrected properly, the left and right side of the monitor screen are straight vertical lines. - http://www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/2004/Aug/1066714.htmSAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 19, 2004 -- IndustryInnovation and Facilities-Based Competition Can Turn the VoIPRevolution into RealityCovad Communications Group, Inc. A system that allows computers to send distress signals to a main system on a network. It is a means to detect problems before they crash the computer irrecoverably. - David Range wrote: It's amazing ain't it? If I tried charging customers in my store the credit card fees, everyone would be up in arms. But it seems to be a-ok (not according to paypal's rules though) to do so if they buy something on E-bay. BTW, I don't sell $10 video games.People who scream bloody murder when online merchants chargeoutrageous shipping/handling charges seem to have no problemswhen they charge them themselves. Funny how things are differentwhen the shoe is on the other foot. Same thing here.Bill
